Resources and Exam Testing Requirements
Equipment Requirements
Candidates are responsible for reviewing and meeting the computer, equipment, browser, and internet connection requirements outlined in the candidate handbook and on the ProctorU website. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following:
- Online virtual proctoring equipment requirements
- Access to a laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone;
- A reliable internet connection; and
- The ProctorU extension must be downloaded to take the Exam; (Candidates can only download this extension on Exam day.)

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are the only supported browsers.
MAC Users
MAC Users are encouraged to review the following resources available on the ProctorU website to ensure their success at the Provincial Exam on Exam Day:

- MacOS x Catalina and Big Sur Users are required to review the following notice provided by Proctor U here:
- Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are the only supported browsers.
Equipment Testing
Candidates are encouraged to test their equipment prior to writing their Exam and on Exam Day to ensure success. The following resources are available for candidate use:

What actions and behaviours will be considered irregular and flagged by the Proctor?
Candidates are responsible for reviewing the list of possible actions and behaviors outlined in the candidate handbook and on the ProctorU website that may be flagged as irregular by the Proctor. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following:
- Candidates must stay seated, facing the webcam during the Exam. The proctor may interact with a candidate if they do not stay seated, facing the webcam.
- Candidates must test on a hard surface (not a bed, couch, or floor).
- Candidates require a mirror or reflective surface to show the proctor the monitor to ensure there are no notes or writing attached to the monitor. A cell phone with a front facing camera can be used for this purpose.
- Additional persons or voices are prohibited from entering the exam testing room.
- Talking aloud, unless otherwise accommodated is not permitted during the exam, unless approved as an accommodation.
- Looking off-screen is not permitted during the exam.
Irregular or suspicious behaviors can lead to an incident report being issued by the proctor to the HCA Directory. Candidates are required to review the Exam candidate handbook prior to writing their Provincial Exam.
Physical Environment Check Standards
Candidates are responsible for ensuring adherence to the following physical environment standards:
- Candidates must choose a test taking space in a private well-lit room
- Candidates should ensure their back is facing the room entrance.
- Candidate must ensure a clear workspace. The following are not permitted:
- No food or drinks (they can have a clear water bottle)
- No unpermitted materials
- No secondary monitors or laptops
- No electronic devices
